Happy Holidays!

Where does the time go? We've cooked our big turkey of the year, carried the Christmas decorations up from the garage, cut down a beautiful tree, found another Santa in our ten-year Santa decorating plan, and turned the heat up. Not too long ago we were standing under the outdoor shower to cool off! Holidays are magical at the Lodge - especially with all the kids. For those of you who cannot share it with us directly, we hope some of these images will make you feel a little closer. Happy Holidays to all and best wishes for a prosperous and healthy 2001 from all of us at the Lodge @ Saddle Oaks.

Cheers! Our Thanksgiving feast! Can you identify everyone in the pic?
I AM using a knife and fork! Bram had never seen a "chicken" this big! Even so - he was wondering what the rest of us were going to have for dinner!

Wlaking to the Christmas Tree forest After Thanksgiving, we go to the Twain Harte Christmas Tree Farm to cut down our tree. This year was no exception!

Another beautiful California day as we walked to the Christmas Tree forest to find just the right tree for us!
Charlie Brown tree Opa liked the first one he saw - he said it is easy to decorate - three decorations, five lights and we're done! (He only sounds like Ebenezer Scrooge, he is really not that bad!)
Hurry - we found a tree! Once we found the right tree, Krista asked the treecutter to come and help us with it. She was excited and ran back ahead of him!
Pull - Push - Pull - Push! "OK girls, cut it here and then you can take it home and put your decorations on it!"
Interestingly, after Oma took the picture above, something triggered a memory and then she found a VERY similar picture that she took 33 years ago! I can do it myself!
It's going to be a bumpy ride! Here's our hard working tree crew!
"Ok, let's take it home and put lights and decorations on it! We're going to put on way more stuff than on Opa's tree!"
