Ian, Linda and Audrey Visit!

Ian called us in January and asked if he, his wife Linda and her mother Audrey could stay at the Lodge for the first few days of their California vacation. We were flattered - and of course said yes! So we met them at SFO and escorted them to the Lodge after giving them cokes and Reese's peanut butter cups to keep them awake. After the long drive and a quick meal, the mountain air and the time difference made for early to bed! We spent Monday around the Lodge relaxing and doing a little film shopping at Wal-Mart to support Ian's photography habit.

Tuesday morning we headed off early to Yosemite National Park. We couldn't have picked a better day, perfect Spring weather.
The park entrance
The downhill view... ...the uphill view
Before we got to the Valley, we stopped along the road at the Cascades. Directly above is the view down the canyon, to the right above is the view up the hill. The water was spectacular. Linda, Berlynn and Audrey couldn't resist posing for a shot on the railing above the canyon. Ian is looking on aghast - he wouldn't get any closer to the railing than he is there! I'm not getting near the railing - uh uh
Yosemite Valley Yosemite Falls from the Merced River
It's impossible to take a bad picture from Inspiration Point! How many of the Valley's features can you name? The bridge across the Merced River makes a great vantage point for a snapshot of Yosemite Falls! The little white dot on the left side of the bridge is Ian, the little dots on the other side are Linda and Audrey. Berlynn is in the car trying to keep warm!
Sometimes when you turn from the previous shot... You can stay on the pavement and get shots like this!
The Merced River winding its way through the Valley! Snow on top of Half Dome as seen from the Ahwanee
Fortunately, not too many tour busses Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls are in full flow during the Spring!
It would be nice to stay there once! Just one more shot please
After lunch at the Ahwanee Hotel, it was time to start heading back to the Lodge. Of course, when you travel with Ian, you always have to stop for just one more picture!
Continue to our next day's adventures!
