Fall Color

It seems like this time of year, the moon looks brighter and closer when it rises - here is Altamont Pass.
The next night, it rises a little later, but still early enough to look good over the hills behind Tuolumne.

It does get dark soon after the moon comes up!

This time of year, the aspen turn the nicest colors, and it's already much cooler in the High Sierra.
Herring Creek Reservoir above Strawberry is nearly empty
There's still enough water in it to take a nice picture.
But the campers are gone, a few hunters are all that remain.  Soon the road will be closed and everything will be covered with snow until Spring.
But we came to find Aspen, not lakes - here is another stand.
They're easy to spot, bright yellow between all the evergreens.
And when the sun catches them just right, they light up like a birthday candle.
