Our last day in Arizona

On Sunday night we paid a special visit to Joe and June, friends of Berlynn's grandmother.  Berlynn had not seen them in over 15 years and it was nice to catch up - and get a home cooked meal too!

On Monday morning we went to Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's Arizona "camp".

Mr. Wright designed and built this facility as a summer camp for his architecture school.  It evolved over the years into a series of buildings designed to be harmonious with their surroundings.

The buildings do fit into the landscape very well, the grounds are beautiful and there are small statues everywhere.
Mr. Wright also designed the interiors, the furniture, lighting and decorations.
In addition to statues, there are a lot of fountains and pools on the grounds, a cooling effect designed for this desert environment.

If you have a chance to be in Phoenix, add Taliesin to your "must see" list.
We were hungry after our tour, so we headed to a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired hotel - the Arizona Biltmore!
Once again, the exterior and interior have Mr. Wright's design stamp all over them.
We enjoyed our lunch and then headed for the airport and our trip home.
After a long week and seeing many sites, there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed!
