Our last day in Arizona
 |
On Sunday night we paid a special visit
to Joe and June, friends of Berlynn's grandmother. Berlynn had not
seen them in over 15 years and it was nice to catch up - and get a home
cooked meal too!

On Monday morning we went to Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd
Wright's Arizona "camp". |
 |
Mr. Wright designed and built this
facility as a summer camp for his architecture school. It evolved over
the years into a series of buildings designed to be harmonious with their
surroundings. |
 |
The buildings do fit into the landscape very well, the
grounds are beautiful and there are small statues everywhere. |
 |
Mr. Wright also designed the interiors, the furniture,
lighting and decorations. |
 |
In addition to statues, there are a lot of fountains
and pools on the grounds, a cooling effect designed for this desert
environment. |
 |
If you have a chance to be in Phoenix, add Taliesin to
your "must see" list. |
 |
We were hungry after our tour, so we headed to a Frank
Lloyd Wright inspired hotel - the Arizona Biltmore! |
 |
Once again, the exterior and interior have Mr. Wright's
design stamp all over them. |
 |
We enjoyed our lunch and then headed for the airport
and our trip home. |
 |
After a long week and seeing many sites, there is
nothing like sleeping in your own bed! |
