An Autumn day at the lake

The weather forecast for next weekend is rain. Fall is definitely in the air, it's time for one last drive, this time up the hill to the high country.
Lunch is a sandwich and a cup of coffee at the Strawberry Inn along the Stanislaus river.
Lake Beardsley is only about 45 minutes from the Lodge. This time of year, the water level is so low that the buoys to keep the boats out are high and dry!
In fact, the sign looks kind of silly. It says "no boats inside the buoys".

Shouldn't that be on the boat side, not the swimmer's side of the lake?

There was a beautiful manzanita tree that wanted its picture taken.

Here's the view down the lake towards the dam. The streaks in the sky are from the jets that are approaching San Francisco International.

We couldn't resist a self-portrait on a rock with the lake in the background. We'll have to return in the spring when the water is higher!
