We've gone Whaling

We got the neatest birthday present, money for a whale watching trip in the Monterey Bay.

We booked with Sanctuary Cruises, we thought we were going to be on the Princess of Whales, ended up on the much smaller boat, you can see the stern of it just past the Princess.

A little worried about motion discomfort, we rented a "Relief Band" on board, they were originally developed to keep the astronauts from feeling queasy.

By 10:30 we were leaving the harbor and headed out for the Monterey Bay Marine Wildlife Sanctuary.

Before passing the last buoy, we had a teenage humpback in site. He wasn't very showy, adolescents are camera shy.
All hands were at the rail to look for more whales. Alas, that was the only one this day.
About ten miles from shore, we did see a giant sun fish laying on its side and feeding on jellies.
We headed back at about eleven miles from shore, we did see a couple of sailboats on the horizon, but no whales!
Noel, the boat's deck hand, was up front trying to spot a fluke or a spout!

We did see some lazy sea lions getting a little sun on one of the buoys..

And a curious otter who was wondering what we were doing out there. He seemed to bid us farewell!
