Keeping the pond clear

We have several beautiful water lilies in the pond, the lilies need sunlight to grow and thrive!
Unfortunately, the sunlight also make the algea grow and turns the pond murky and green. So, while we were at the koi store, they told us that we needed to make the filter larger and pump enough water through the filter so that all the water in the pond was refreshed every hour.
Since we underestimated the original size of the pond (it turns out that it is a little over 3,000 gallons or about 12,000 liters if that makes more sense) so we need a large filter!

This is what Alex helped us hook up last week. This filter tub is 70 gallons itself, about 2/3 the size of our first pond.

The intake is the white plumbing it sucks the water in at the far end of the pond, pumps it through the Ultra Violet light clarifier and into the tub with the biological filter material.
The black, 3 inch pipe takes the filtered water back to the pond.

Here's some of the plumbing hidden under the deck.

The end result is beautiful clear pond water.

At the top of the picture is the white pipe sucking in the dirty water. In the middle of the picture is the black pipe returning the filtered water.

Soon we can go back to the koi store to get one of these good looking ones!
