	We all agreed that Spike needs a companion so we took a trip to a miniature dachshund breeder in Sacramento to see if there was a puppy there that we liked. There were three, two little girls and a boy asleep in a basket on a table when we arrived.
	Berlynn picked up the little black one and it was love at first sight.
	We named her Stellaluna and she's only two and a half weeks old in these pictures.
	Turns out the love at first sight was mutual as Stella gave Berlynn a little kiss.
	I got to hold her as well, she promptly went back to sleep.
	Geoff held her also, Berlynn asked if he would be Stellaluna's godfather.
	Of course he agreed and his first act of protection for his new charge was keeping the nosy schnauzer away from her.
	But Stellaluna was most comfortable with Berlynn, we even got a look at the little white spot on her throat.
	Too soon it was time to leave Stella behind with her brothers and sisters and mommy. She has some growing left to do before we come back and pick her up and bring her home.
